VEGANISM

... IS NOT JUST A FOOD TREND!

There can be different reasons why choosing a vegan life.

Here we think is a perfect definition from "The Vegan Society":

"Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude - as far as is possible and practicable - all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals."

So be a part of our journey to a more compassionate and cruelty free live.

BUILDING OUR HIDDEN "PIRATE COVE"

Did you know that the color green stands for nature, balance, calmness, but can also help you to be more creative? And that the color blue can lower your heart rate and your blood pressure?

So it seems with this abundance of green and blue, we can always stay calm and relaxed - maybe even during the construction phase. ;-)

We are so excited to build our dream house here in the beautiful south of Costa Rica, and we can't wait to lie in our hammocks enjoying this view!

We are  getting power from our photovoltaic system and water from our well and finally construction is almost done.

PERMACULTURE "VEGAN STYLE"

How cool is it to grow your own food on your own land in the most sustainable way there is?

There is always something new to learn regarding planting, growing food, and cultivating soil and land. And we are keen to learn!

We've already planted over 200 fruit trees and grew yuca, corn, and other plants like passion fruits we are already harvesting.

There is no better feeling than eating homegrown food!

There is still a lot to do and learn, like how to best handle irrigation in summer, how to get good compost, how to best regenerate the soil, but also so much more to know about all these wonderful, nutritional plants, trees, and herbs that you can grow here in this country.

MARINE CONSERVATION

We've always loved the Ocean and being in the water. For us scuba diving was the stepping stone to new adventures.

When we came in contact with the beautiful underwater world, it was also the starting point for "discovering" more sustainable topics like veganism, low-waste, conservation in general, and especially the protection of marine life.

We already volunteered and worked with Sea Shepherd back in Austria, and together with the NGO Innoceana, we made a documentary about a whale rescue that took place here in the South Pacific of Costa Rica.

WILDLIFE CONSERVATION

Living in the Southern Pacific side of Costa Rica means living between the Ocean and the mountains.

Did you know that Costa Rica contains almost 6% of the world's biodiversity? Not bad for a country smaller than Austria!

It is home to more than 900 different bird species and more than 500 species of mammals. 25% of the country is protected territory like national parks, marine parks, Nature Reserves and Wildlife Refuges.

One sanctuary that is close to us is the Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary who takes care of injured animals like monkeys, sloths, wild cats, birds, parrots, anteaters and many more species. The goal is - as far as possible - to rehabilitate and rewild all the rescued animals.

Together with them we had the chance to rewild a female anteater who is now roaming our land. Watch the video and read about it here.

We hope that we can help more animals in the future!
